Here's where you come to follow the progress of your piece of furniture in the shop. No, wood doesn't talk--or does it? Sure it does! As we work on your piece we learn things about where it's been, how it's been used, maybe even who (or what) has used it, and often about where it came from originally. It's a lot of fun and typically quite interesting.

This space also gives us a chance to let you know about any special experiences or progress related challenges. We try to chronicle work completed on your furniture whenever anything significant occurs. So there may not be an entry every day, but when we document them, we hope you will find these journal entries are fun, informative, purposeful, and creative.

So, have fun "listening" to our dialogue with your piece, as it is, it's Wood Talkin.

A Hot Summer Update

Hi, Everybody.
Are we all warm enough, or what!?

The past several days have been very challenging, to say the least. No thanks to the elevated temperatures in general, and the impact the temps have on my shop---and me, I've had to slow down the pace. Wow.  So, I'm touching base with my customers.

The past two weeks find me getting into the shop earlier to get things done, and similarly leaving as the day heats up. When it's effectively intolerable, I leave. Consequently, I'm not able to get as much done, but I am making progress despite these unusual limitations.

Also, a week ago now, I chose to complicate things more by having a small surgery on my left hand. The hand has had issues since 2019, and frustratingly, the issues do get notably worse with the passage of time. So, now, coincidental to the heat, I'm healing up the hand, too. But, and very gratefully, the bandages will come off this Friday morning, 8/6. Yaaay.

So, if you have an item in the shop, and I've already started working on it, you're getting regular updates from me. You know what's happening daily, collaboratively, because of those fun updates. People like to get those updates.

But if you have any questions, or if you're new to WoodTalkin and reading this, and maybe you have some questions about getting your piece(s) into the shop's floor schedule, don't hesitate to call me, or text me with pictures. It may be hot, but I'm available. And I'll do my best to make you and your piece(s) happy.

I hope you have a super week, albeit a HOT one.

Godspeed,

Dick Brandow
